Wine cork trivets...for Finished Project #10. I made a few more cork trivets from what was left from my stash of corks that Jason collected for me at his restaurant. A few years ago I mentioned to all my housemates that I wanted to collect corks. After only a few weeks Jason came back with a giant paper bag that had ‘corks for dorks’ written in marker on the side. On my quest to finally use up all those random bags of things I asked people to collect I have finally vanquished the cork supply. Now I just need to find something to do with the pile of mini-blinds in the upstairs closet. The trivets are now for sale on my etsy store.

Corks for Dorks
To make your own cork trivets...or whatever.
Materials:
18 wine corks (real cork not plastic)
wood glue
a 5x5” piece of 1/4” plywood...varnished on the back and sides
a cutting implement of some kind
To get a better glueing surface cut approximately one third of the cork side off. Dad made me this great jig for cutting the corks on the band saw. Then simply glue the corks to the base in any design you wish. Easy. These would make great housewarming gifts paired with a bottle of wine.
