I’m very excited this project is done. It began as 344 separate pieces of fabric. The quilt is for my little sister Laura. I used material from her old sheets from her college dorm room and remnants from my mom and grandma’s scrap bins. The goal was to have a scrap quilt that looked random, but still had a cohesive design. At first I intended to sew up the teal squares side by side, but I was laying it out on a scrap of navy fabric and I really liked the way it looked with the dark boarder.
This was a great project for using up old fabric scraps. Also a great project for using nice bits from old clothes you are sentimentally attached to, instead of throwing them out. Just make sure to note the fiber content and care instructions of the clothes, as they will be the care instructions for your quilt.
